Hunted

She's been hurt so many times, victim of heartbreak crimes
so every time she sits down memories flashed through her mind
tears streaming down her face, pains deep inside
no one seems to decipher the waves deep down under
she has been faithful at all times proving her love to all kinds
but no one seems to pay her back, all the loving she deserves
she stays up so many nights her eyes open wide
crying herself to sleep as she sees visions of her hunted past
instead of putting up a fight, she chooses to run and hide
so she became a workaholic, a party freak or over socially inclined
Working days after days, partying nights after nights trying to wear herself out
avoiding the pauses that take her back, back to the past, yes back to those lonely frights
Too bad, she didn’t realize that you can run but you can’t forever hide because you and yourself will always be side by side and there will always be times when it’s just you saying me myself and I.
So why run and hide? face the fears inside
for God sake realize you can’t undo the past
but with hope and faith, the future is a goldmine
and with time will come healing for your aching heart,
only forgive all the perpetrators their acts,
for without it, it will be like you dragging bags of sand
I know it’s hard but i know you’re smart
so you know that life isn’t worth holding a man inside
Lose yourself, free the love inside,
wipe the tears from your eyes, you going to be just fine,
put on a smile, you’ve got God beside and in a nick of time everything will be alright.
Stop surviving and start living again.
Amazing poem! Definitely a reminder to stay strong and move forward from your past rather than letting it consume you.
Just a suggestion, but you should break your poem lines down more so it's easier to keep the rhythm. :)
Thanks, keciah will definitely do that... am kinda always in a multitasking mode most times. will definately have to take my time with it next time.
As men we often fail to put ourselves in others shoes. Some people can't overcome pain and sorrow by themselves. They need a shoulder to cry on; a sympathetic ear; a hand of friendship and support. Should we be those support structures in their lives then sure we can make a difference.
You've captured so many people's experiences and pain in this poem. It's so filled with truth and emotion that it made me think of the above statement. Good writing. kudos.
Awwww i really am touched and glad you like this. it's actually based on a close relative of mine. wasn't a good time for her. i felt really sad anytime i saw her, you could actually tell she just cried her eyes out. she is getting better now though.
I'm glad to hear that. I hope you are holding her hand throughout.
Definitely, thanks.
A very thoughtful poem. I totally agree we all need to stop surviving and start living again.
Just a quick one, on formatting I use Markdown Pad 2, it's an old program but it certainly helps with formatting.
okay i will definitely check it out
