Let's talk about love! My thoughts, illustrated with my paintings.

in #life7 years ago (edited)

It is fashionable to talk about love today, especially in esoteric circles. The internet is full of banalities as "Love Others" or "Love Yourself", while the majority of people, especially in the civilized parts of the world are living without true love. It is easy to say cliches about love, but more difficult to do it. One expects love while he or she does not love anyone, either. They expect love from outside, rather than from inside of themselves, in unlimited quantities.

The Hungarian word SZERetet has a multifaceted meaning. The meaning of the prefix SZER: natural world order, the organizing power of life, cosmic order, which exists in the quantum world as well as in the human world and in the world of planets, stars, solar systems and galaxies. The center of SZER is our heart, which joint heaven with the earth, the Heavenly Father and Mother Earth.
The word SZER-ETET is a pun as well. SZER means LOVE, ETET means to feed. Love is feeding us!

Contemplative admiration of the beauties of nature is a manifestation of love. If we do something with love, we will enjoy it. If I give you something with love, I'm happy because you are happy, too. But it is also a manifestation of love when we are severe to our child, for example, in danger. A good mother will crawl to her child if he or she runs to the road, among the cars! A teacher may be strict, and he still loves his students. As a good gardener prunes the fruit tree, he "cuts" the malice of children (laziness, disrespect, etc.). Love is not only passive contemplation, but also active action.

The Hungarian word "SZERELEM" (Love in English) is misunderstood by almost everyone, it is thought as a relationship love between man and woman, especially "the love of the body". It is just as fatal mistake as the Hindu Tantra, considered to be sexual practice only, although it is the most extensive spiritual teaching that naturally includes sexuality.
Relationship love is very beautiful, but it is usually not long-lasting, and because of human selfishness and jealousy, it can cause a lot of pain. Almost everyone experiences this kind of love a few times in life, and that's good because people can develop a lot and they can become wiser.

Nowadays, here are a lot of articles about the love of the so-called "twin flames". Well, let's forget them quickly! Anyway, what is "twin flame"? When a soul is divided into two or more parts, it is born into two or more bodies, but very rarely in the same place and time. They help each other in development even if they live away from each other, yet they can meet in their dreams. Sometimes a mother or a father and a child or brothers, sisters can be born as twin flames, but a man and woman as twin flames may born once in 1,000 years. We can consider it is totally unlikely. It's funny, but your twin flame might look like a monster, and if you would finally see him or her, you would immediately flee away. "Hey, he surely can not be my twin flame, because I'm beautiful, but he's so ugly!" If you think you'll find your handsome, attractive and clever twin flame, you'll be disappointed, when you realize you've only ridden an illusion.

Finally, some word explanation.
While in Hungarian language we use the above two words (szeretet, szerelem), in Greek language there are four words: eros, philia, agape and storge. Eros is clearly a sexual attraction and desire. Philia is equal to friendship and liking. Agape is a manifestation of self-sacrificing, selfless love. Since the beginning of the early Christianity, Christian communities have kept agape. Satsang is its Hindu equivalent. Storge means family love, the mutual love of parents and children and the love of brothers, relatives and acquaintances.
In English, only two words are used: love or like. The word "love" expresses "I love you," so "I feel we are one". "Like" means similarity: "I like you" means we are similar.

What a beautiful language, thank you for sharing your knowledge.. so many reasons why I loved living there. Etymology is more and more fascinating to me as I travel and pay more attention to tones.

Hungarian is a very creative and magic language. Not easy to learn for a foreigner, because we have very different way of thinking. Welcome back! :)

The dance between etymology and your beautiful illustrations is a type of exotic-erotic relationship unto itself and gives your reader pleasure. This is one of your really special posts.... well done!! :)
