3 Daily Supplements Everyone Should Use (Bonus Tip in here too)
Due to a few factors of today diet and culture(like being indoors more, soil degradation) there are 3 super supplements that I highly recommend that you try.
First fish oils, basically take these bad boys to reduce inflammation, and help your brain and balance out your Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio in your body. There are studies showing cognitive improvements reduction in pain and tissue recovery, with a potential for fat loss and hormonal regulation. The key is getting good quality, I prefer Krill Oil as it tend to last better have a few more beneficial compounds and make it worth the extra few dollars.
Second, Vitamin D, this is one of the most overlooked supplements with massive across the board reduction in all cause mortality rates. From being used in roughly ¼ of DNA replication, to hormone regulation, to reduced incidence of Seasonal Affective Disorder (closely tied to depression and other mental illnesses) this supplement is also hard to get enough of and only in the past couple of years is receiving the credit and ongoing research it deserves. For those of you with dark skin this is more of a problem s Vitamin D can be synthesised by sunlight but is reduced for you unfortunately. My personal theory is that this deficiency actually is a factor in higher mortality rates and lower average age of death amongst dark skinned populations (especially as our society increasingly avoids the sun, or only goes out with sunscreen on) but let's not get distracted. The general consensus in the science community is that the RDI is chronically low and 4000ui per day is a good start. A product like THIS is good as its suspended in coconut oil to aid absorption, when many other companies use a lower quality fat.
Third and generally more of a personal opinion is magnesium supplementation. Due to the high stress nature of our lives/diets/schedules this super supplement is often needed as more of a repair button. I say this because it plays a role in about 350 enzymic processes making us get more out of our food, and at the risk of sounding like a broken record, good for sleep, hormone regulation and all that good stuff. Apparently 60% of people in Western society suffer from a magnesium deficiency. Good sources include DARK chocolate, coffee and leafy greens. I use something such as this one for my needs.
Bonus Tip: Simple foods are the best, as they are less like to have been processed and have a balance of nutrients that our bodies are used to eating. I good way to think of food is foods that cause inflammation and foods that don't. Obviously foods that don't are prepared, but life is for living and you gotta eat pizza and drink wine with friends! In general my rule at home is to eat very cleanly and only have those foods in my cupboards. Then when I go out to eat if I feel like gorging on something sugary I don't feel bad, but to be honest most of the time I'll order healthy food anyway when I'm out.
