EVGA 1080 ti FTW3 Hybryd 8GPU Mining Rig Build, How to make it cheaper.

in #mining7 years ago

Hello there all, after some research in the present state of crypto currencies, I decided to start mining. I ended up building 2 GPU mining rigs for around a total of 9k usd, all gtx 10 series gpus.

To ease things financially, I applied for the best cash rewards credit cards I could find, that had long period before interest payments starts, so that I can pay them with the mining earnings. First I got approved to Chase Rewards 1.5% cash back 15 months to pay, and then Bank of America Cash Rewards 1% and 12 months, joined Amazon Prime trial to get prime free for a month; some parts are only available on Prime at the best prices, including some GPUs. Next I joined ebay Bucks for a 1 % return on eBay purchases and finally ebates for variable discounts everywhere including eBay and Amazon.

After almost 1.5 months mining I have 0.33 BTC +-1600 usd back! and paid around 300 usd for electricity, I feel everything is going according to plan, so I started thinking about building another rig, after having the experience of running 2 rigs and how hot the place can get during the summer, I would totally make a rig paying attention to cooling and room temperatures, a hybrid rig in a living room or some part of the house that is not a dorm room or a kitchen is fine.

PARST LIST FOR MY NEXT RIG:

8x - EVGA Nvidia Geforce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 HYBRID: FTW3 is one of the best 1080ti gaming/mining cards, so the resell value is bigger in case it all goes south, and it is reported to have the top performance for mining; 38-40 Mh/s Ethash ethereum,  775/800 sols/s Euqihash/Zcash, so it will definitely pull is hash power for the extra cash, which also makes it more profitable in the long term, Plus the hybrid cooling for a 20 to 30 degrees difference in room temperature, depending how you tweak your fans or if you add mode to the set up like push-pull configuration on radiators if you know what you are doing, but works out of the box regardless.

1x - ASUS PRIME Z270-A Motherboard LGA 1151

1x - Intel Celeron G3900 Dual-core (2 Core) 2.80 GHz Processor - Socket H4 LGA-1151

4x - Kingston HyperX FURY Black 4GB 2133MHz DDR4 Non-ECC CL14 DIMM Desktop Memory (HX421C14FB/4) You can do only 2 here, i prefer 16.

1x - EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 G2 80+ GOLD, 1600W Fully Modular NVIDIA SLI and Crossfire Ready 10 Year Warranty Power Supply 120-G2-1600-X1

1x - Evga 120-G2-1300-XR 1300W SUPERNOVA 1300 G2 ATX EPS12V PWR SUP 80PLUS GOLD RATED

1x - ModTek Dual PSU Adapter Cable 24 Pin 2-way

4/8x - PCI-Express PCIE 8 Pin to Dual 8 (6+2) Pin Video Card Y-Splitter Adapter Power Supply Cable

1x - Samsung 960 EVO Series - 250GB PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD (MZ-V6E250BW)

8x - MintCell 6-Pack PCIe VER 006 PCI-E 16x to 1x Powered Riser Adapter Card

1x - CFIKTE NGFF to PCI-E riser card M.2 port to PCIE expansion card X4 slot adapter card

1x - Veddha Professional 8 GPU Miner Case Aluminum Stackable Mining Case Rig Open Air Frame

The 8 pin to to dual 8 (6+2) and the risers are more likely the first parts of the rig to malfunction, also running the rig with a cheap energy metter/monitor is going to cause problems, No idea what to recommend for this rig since Kill a Watt is max 1800 watts. The GPU cooling radiators could be attached to the frame using cable tides, like in the Hybrid 1070 mining rig below:

If you can overclock tune up the rig for 800 sols per card, that would be a total of 6400 sol/s for 30$ to 33$ daily profit on the top 5 Equihash coins on what to mine. What are you waiting for, you just need good credit score and this project is actually a gift, people that start using crypto don’t quit it, this is only going to grow, plus there are other industries that rent processing power for example Deep Learning, If you understand the revolution taking place, take action.

Sort:

It is indeed - a revolution. Cryptocurrency has the potential to remove the tool of control from the controller. Debt money = slavery, Cryptocurrency = freedom and so much more.
