Courtesy of the 2018 Winter Olympics, Pixar finally unveils a new trailer to its upcoming 'Incredibles 2' animated feature.

This sequel has been in development for close to fourteen years and now that it's here, it personally feels weird that it picks up from the events of the first with The Underminer.
Considering so much time has passed, I would expect everyone to be much older with the baby, Jack-Jack now as a teenager. But I guess not.

There is one significant change though. One that perhaps panders to the feminist times we're in.

Bob Parr or Mr. Incredible has apparently been consigned to home duties while his wife, Elastigirl, pursues her dream to save the world from bad guys.
Pixar weaves virtually the best stories in the filmmaking game so I'm betting this gender angle doesn't come off patronizing and disingenuous.

I didn't think anyone still cared for this property but surfing through the web, I find its first teaser that debuted last year went on to become the most watched animated trailer ever. So there ya go.

The cast still comprises the same ensemble of Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Samuel L. Jackson, Brad Bird and a new recruit in Bob Odenkirk of 'Better Call Saul' for possibly a villainous tycoon. 'Incredibles 2' hits theaters JUNE 15, 2018. Yay.

Sort:

They've ruined it, they've added feminist politics.
