1001 movies before I die: The Kid Brother (Review)
If you saw my post about thee book "1001 movies you must see before you die". You'll know that I am atempting to watch all 1001 movies. This is my review of The Kid Brother (movie #38)
The Kid Brother
When you talk about comedic masterminds of the silent era you're going to hear alot about Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, but don't forget about Harold Lloyd who plays the main character in this movie.
If you like Chaplin or Keaton you'll have no problem watching this movie or if you're just looking for some comedy look no further because this is a funny movie. With some of the other comedic movies in the book I didn't laugh very much and I thought that was just because they where silent movies, but I was wrong. Keaton and Chaplin have made me laugh and this one is no exception. This movie is funny troughout, Harold gives a great performance as the timid and submissive little brother.
This is the movie that made me laugh the most. Just the way the scenes where setup worked in such a wonderful way. Everytime Harold gets into some sort of trouble he always seems to be at the bottom but in the end he always lands on top. He has a talent not many people can do, I guess most people could do it but not that well. Trying to be funny without speaking is not any easier than trying to be funny when speaking, with one you have to use your voice and with the other your body. It's not as easy as it seems and Harold is one of the best at it.
Score: 8/10
