[HOW-TO] Trade the new MUSE token on Bitshares

in #muse7 years ago (edited)

Hey Steemians,

Today the MUSE token has opened for trading through the OpenLedger gateway again (using the OPEN.MUSEOL asset), following the "pitch-fork" migration to a new blockchain that is a forked from the Steem github repository. This guide will walk you through acquiring the new token on BitShares and transferring it to a MUSE account.

Access your BitShares account / wallet

  1. If you don't have a BitShares account, you can register one for free via OpenLedger using my referral code by clicking this link, or by downloading the latest release of the desktop wallet. I recommend using the Account Model with a long randomly generated password.

  2. Next, go to the trading pair for OPEN.MUSEOL using the "Find Markets" view on the desktop wallet, or by going directly to the OPEN.MUSEOL link on OpenLedger. Here you can buy and sell the gateway asset OPEN.MUSEOL, which is redeemable 1:1 for native MUSE tokens. You can use OPEN.BTC, USD, CNY, BTS, or any other registered asset as the base pair, too.

  3. Next, we need to fill out the bid form in order to purchase OPEN.MUSEOL. We can use the "Market Depth" button in the top right of the chart area to order to view the current spread, and decide where we wish to place an order on the books. The following diagram is color-coded. Green indicators correspond to buys, red to sells, and the blue line indicates the price I will place a buy order at.

  4. After filling the BUY order form and clicking the BUY button, we'll see a confirmation dialog to confirm ...

  5. Which is followed by an open order on the books. Congrats, now all there is to do is wait for your order to be filled.

Withdraw OPEN.MUSEOL to a MUSE account

  1. Once you have acquired your tokens, you can access the withdraw functionality of the gateway. But first in order to do so, you need to have a MUSE account with which to withdraw to. You can register or log into a MUSE account by heading to the web wallet site here. Be sure to backup your password!

  2. Back in the Openledger interface, use the Openledger gateway to withdraw OPEN.MUSEOL. Set the "Withdraw To" address to your MUSE account that you just registered at wallet.museblockchain.com. Withdraw is actually not operational as of this post, but will be working in the next day or two according to OpenLedger. My advice is to wait for a few days before converting your OPEN.MUSEOL to MUSE.

That's all there is to it! If you have any additional questions, please ask them in the comment section below. Also click here to join the MUSE Slack community. And don't forget to use your MUSE to vote for witness @agoric.systems.

Sort:

I've already seen some people using running a witness on the MUSE blockchain.
I haven't bought any MUSE yet but it seems like it could be a good investment in the future.
It seems like a pretty straightforward procedure. I guess it will be easier for me as I can just buy the new token right?
Thanks for the tutorial @robrigo.

If you want to support the project, you could buy some of the token. :)

Hhahaha.
oh yeah

i have open.muse. it's not open.museol
I want to spend open.muse on web wallet.
how can i do? please.. help me

Openledger said they would sharedrop 1 OPEN.MUSEOL to 100 OPEN.MUSE, so I expect that you will see them send it to you eventually.

Oh cool, trading right at its pre-snapshot ATH!

Much needed, thank you. I want to support Muse.
