Song I Love #15 - PAINTING GREYS by Emmit Fenn: A song about being trapped in something toxic
It happens more often than we care to admit. We get used to something that there’ll come a time when we don’t know how life would be without that something, and for the most part we’re just scared off what comes after letting that something go because we’re only humans and humans are mostly cowards, cowards who’re afraid to face changes even if it’s the only constant thing in this fucked up world.
I heard this song from the fan-fucking-tastic series ”Sense8” is one of the sexiest songs I’ve ever heard. There’s this grittiness to it that makes you want to listen to is in the dead of the night in bed with the lights off and you’re buried deep in your bed with just the music washing over you.
If you’ve noticed from most of the songs I post about, I’m big on those simplistic songs, conveying a whole lot with a lot less. This song fits right up my alley, simple yet absolutely elegant.
Emmit Fenn is a singer, producer and writer is the real deal and has been playing music for the most part of his life. His classical training shows in how this track turned out, showcasing his skills on piano and violin, all the while maintaining a sense of individuality with more mainstream high-tops and synths. His vocals was the perfect match to the track, being able to absolutely convey a steaming tale of something heartbreaking.
You get a sense that he’s in a toxic relationship where he is without much control. This person that he loves is making him into this ball of heartfelt emotions. A relationship that is just a cycle of the same thing over and over again that it turns into something negative and yet he doesn’t have it in him to give up and let go, that even after all the shitiness he’s still willing to give it a try.
This isn’t really a unique story. A lot of us may have been in this situation where you can’t seem to give up something even if you know that it’s doing you no good. It doesn’t only apply to romantic relationships but other as well, may it be friendship or your relationship- or addiction, to alcohol or drugs, etc.
However, it’s hard for me to sit here and not tell you this sounds like Super Mario took a lot of drugs because he was upset that Bowser captured Princess Peach. I mean that as a compliment. -Jordan, New Music Daily
This is what one of the reviews said about the song and I can’t say I disagree.
ENJOY!!!
