The People's Coalition for Fisheries Justice (KIARA) notes there will be thousands of fishermen threatened to get in the sea if the reclamation in Jakarta Bay continues. With the reclamation project, according to KIARA, the rights of coastal communities have been seized.

Plans for the resumption of reclamation projects in the Jakarta Bay will bring a lot of harm to coastal residents. KIARA notes since 2016 that conflict and marine governance issues are increasing.

KIARA Secretary General Susan Herawati explains, with the plan to continue reclamation in Jakarta Bay tantamount to seize the rights of fishermen. Not only that, the continuation of reclamation is also considered to be contradictory to the Constitution of Article 33 of 1945 which clearly affirms that the earth, water, and natural resources contained therein are controlled by the state and used as great as possible for the welfare of the people
