New Year's Eve art from my Past & considering 2019
# My New Year's eve art from 2016
The entire piece:
It appears in 2016 going into the New Year I was full of colour and this was the sort of Pop colours I was playing with. You can see my love of animal and female form as well as my constant obsession with fashion.
New Years Eve 2017 seemed a bit more black and white.
Though I did then play with this image with some colours to work better on things.
I still happily was playing with the female form and animals, but had returned to my love of pattern that I often used in my Printmaking days. I would often be inspired by old Arts and Crafts wallpaper or old Victorian notepaper to create a repeat flat pattern to adorn my figures in monoprinted backgrounds whilst screen printing the pattern over top.
Many people will be considering their New Year's Resolution.
Some will be considering not making any other will have a long list. What I started to do a fear years back was to make One resolution and it was always what I called my Artist Resolution which is basically trying to come up with one sentence or two that would encompass what I hope to achieve throughout the year with my artwork.
Since this practice has begun many things have changed. Online life has increased and for the better with places like Steemit. The advent of places like society6 and redbubble have seen many artists, including myself, seeing some fruitful endeavour in creating works for items and products.
My own Fine Art has always walked the line of the Decorative
and happily so. I was never too 'high brow' to think that were I too create something it had to be either 'high art' or 'illustration' for me, especially in our modern digital world, art is more a part of our life and the idea of Fine Art almost needs to embrace the decorative or commercial quality of the life in which we all live.
Well, what IS my Artist New Year's resolution then, you might be asking, Get on with it woman...
The truth is I don't have it completely solidified as of yet.
There is a kernal of an idea of scope that I have been toying with on my morning country rambles. Today we took another good long walk to our favourite coffee house in the fields here and enjoyed coffee, though I cannot wait for the holidays to end as it was packed! I selfishly want it back to a few people in the afternoon on a Monday. But, I digress...
My resolution will encompass more focus and more pinpoint accuracy in my artist mind this year.
What that exactly means as of yet, I don't know, but I am going to take the rest of today to consider it and then maybe bore some locals with talk of it tonight when we go to the local and have some drinks for New Years Eve.
By tomorrow, I hope to awake into 2019 with my resolution and my resolve to carry it out.
- Who amongst you makes resolutions?
- Who finds it a silly idea or a set up for failure?
- Who thinks it is a great way to focus the energy of a New Year?
I hope all of you have a wondrous New Year's Eve and will be looking forward to seeing you all come New Year's Day and 2019!

i dont have past new year arts :( but ... i guess I can start from this year :D YAY!!
HAPPY 2019, DONNA !!!
Thanks @veryspider yes, I've been making art awhile now. I'm always changing up style a bit. I'm looking forward to more of your amazing drawings in 2019!
I don't do New Year resolutions since they statistically are failing more often than when making a decision/plan on any other day in the year ;-) But it's always good to reflect of course, and have a general feeling of where you want to grow next year :-) Hope your ideas for the year 2019 come true and take your time solidifying!
PS: I loved the black and white version! The patterns in the clothing! Gorgeous really <3
@soyrosa it is pretty true that resolutions often fail and I only really make the 'art' one which is just a way to kick myself in the bottom and give focus to the art making of the new year. It's easier if it's just one thing and of course if you begin to fail it's easier to pick yourself back up and start again if it's just one resolution.
I am curious what 2019 has in store for all of us here on Steemit and in crypto and even in digital living full stop.

Happy New Year! @adelepazani I'm excited for the coming art filled year!
I think the old romantic/modernist idea of a fine art might be coming to an end. I grew up with a lot of art that was not at all fine, but great none the less. Funny thing is that most artists I know never really did differentiate. The institution does, but we artists can use comics, baroque sculptures, Black Sabbath and Bach like we want to. I am so happy that I am not an art historian and has to be concerned with dignity and literary canon.
I love your black and white, but I can see that spot colours fit you well too. Just... bring it on!
