A Very Informal Nutritional Experiment
When I research nutritional supplements for the physical problems we are trying to tackle regarding our horses health, I always end up finding lots of good information that will probably help us too. Looking for nutritional answers led me to read a really interesting book called The Plant Paradox. The basic message is eat whole foods and you will not develop the chronic diseases that so many are currently suffering from. Surprisingly corn is one of those foods that is hindering good health. Corn is full of lectins and it seems that removing lectins from our diet is one of the keys to restoring good health.
The other day I was watching our older horse walk back to his stall and he looked so sore. Therefore, I pulled the grain that had corn in it from his diet, and a few days later he is walking much more comfortably. Still not sure if the corn makes that big of a difference, but it is definitely an interesting and positive outcome.
Sheltering Oak Farms has been in the Arabian horse business for many years. The first +30 years we were hobbyist participants and the past four years we have been building the Arabian horse business we have always complained was not available to us as “clients”.
We are very interested in horses, counter-culture, freedom and truth. Therefore we are taking to Steemit to talk about our horse business and be a part of the Steemit community.
Our biggest roadblock to daily postings is stepping away from the barn and the horses long enough to get into the routine of posting regularly. We are going to try to relate something interesting about horses, training, equine nutrition or riding a few times a week.
If you have any questions about Arabian horses please feel free to post a question.
