Tour of a canyon that has changed very little since Lewis and Clark came through . . .
The only changes to this river canyon are dams on the Missouri River above and below the canyon, one picnic area and one campground. Other than these very few changes this canyon appears as it did when the Lewis and Clark expedition came down this river. Over the next few postings I will show you what Lewis and Clark saw. This first picture is of the mouth canyon just before we entered. The canyon is breathtaking and is only accessible by boat. These two boats are the tour boats that take trips up and down the river. We were on the smaller one that is 65 foot wood boat built in the 60's named Sacajewa 2 and has only been on this river. On the tour you will see Mule Deer, Osprey, Bald Eagles, Mountain Goats and many other animals. Unfortunately I did not get any good shots of the fauna. Stay tuned for more. . .
