VW Beetle & Chattanooga, TN Images (Day Trip)

in #photography8 years ago

Recently moved to Cleveland, TN to live with my lady NicoleDPhoto who also pestered me for weeks about posting here until I gave in. We both enjoy adventure and exploration and with the recent move I had already guessed we would end up in Chattanooga at some point. She decided to leave her camera in the car for this trip but I brought mine with me. I didn't take many photos at all because I had the bright idea of bringing only a 50mm to "challenge" myself but I feel like I pinned myself in a corner. The 50mm was a bit too tight for most of the narrow streets in downtown Chattanooga. I was crying (not really) because I had a 17-40 in my bag but didn't want to make the walk in the opposite direction to get it. Anyways, the highlight of the two hour or so trip ended up being eating at The Community Pie pizza place and then walking around to discover the Beetle below :) I mean, aside from spending time with my woman :)

We had fun even though 90% of the stores were closed due to it being Sunday. Couldn't recommend you go out of your way to see the city but if you're in the area I wouldn't want to miss out!

Anyways, enjoy these images and leave a comment letting us know what you think!

Nicole enjoys a quick glance from the rooftop before we made our way to the elevator. Naturally, I had to go all the way to the top floor for extra views.

I had the car nearly crystal clear until the lady in the Volvo pulled in behind him. Before snapping these pictures I did speak to the owner for a few minutes about the car and we exchanged Instagram usernames as any social gurus would haha. I sent him a message on Instagram, "Hey man, I got some images of your car but the lady in the Volvo pulled up and messed up what I had going for me" he replied, "That was my wife." We both laughed and friendship is now developing!

The owner purposely rusted this old bug and then sprayed a clear coat on with a green/gold flake in it. The flake was really hard to capture in the shade but if you look at the wheel picture you will see what I am talking about.

I decided to post this image because I think it very clearly depicts the weather for the day. Yesterday was beautiful in Tennessee.

The owner told me that the entire bug used to be green like the hood you see, but something stopped him from stripping the hood. I think it had something to do with the way the flake turned out. He was only expecting gold, but somehow green ended up in it. To beat all, his wife is a professional paint mixer and made the mix for him! Interesting...

Area in focus is somewhere around 8-10' above ground. This was shot with my camera nearly sitting on the corner of a building looking straight up. I have been trying to push myself to look up, down and all around opposed to taking a standard approach on angles.

One Way to Jail

Somedays I feel like I am the girlfriend in this relationship. I drank water and she had a beer!?

This is what Community Pie dubs as their "Vodka Pie." I didn't taste vodka, but we weren't mad and the pizza definitely got finished.

Anywho, I hope you all enjoyed! Have a great day, week, year, ect! :)
