Dont be afraid to explore!
I was heading south, along the Ozark Mountain Parkway, taking the long scenic way to visit a buddy in Little Rock. I crossed this bridge and almost broke my neck looking back at the beautiful swimming hole down the river surrounded by tall bluffs in the mountain!
I knew i had to try to get down there. After abot 3 miles there was a place to turn around and when i crossed back over the bridge, found a narrow, poorly maintained gravel drive about a mile past. Whats the worst that could happen? Smack dab in the middle of Ozarkana mountain land??
Sure enough the road twisted and turned and finally came to a turn around right near the river probably 1/2 mile from the highway.
I threw my bag across my back, looped the tripod in as best i could and started making trails for the bridge. Literally. If i wasnt making them i was following deer trails as much as i could!
For this image I took 5 pics changing shutter speed instead of aperture as it was a still day and i wanted the aperture consistant. I cannot remember my settings. I usually just play around until it looks good to me anyway.
An afterthought, and a mistake I will not make in the future, I should have had my camera around my neck at the ready. Abput halfway in I came across a nice buck and 3 does standing in the river just looking at me. We locked eyes for a while as the girls drank, amd as soon as I started to move they bounded off, splashing across to the other bank and into the woods. Missed that shot!
