Perception (A poem by Jespen)

in #poem7 years ago (edited)

Hi! Thanks for reading my first post. I am new here and just testing the waters. This is one of the first poems I ever wrote. I hope you enjoy it as it is still one of my favorites. Cheers!

Perception

When your leaves are course,
Thick veined with a vulnerable moist,
Do you anticipate the inevitable fall?
For all your rings,
do you think you'd recall,
How your bark has grown rigid,
uncanny and thick,
Roots somehow stiffen
as limbs become sticks,
Yet, what of the ones
that climbed you from birth,
Or those lying in shadows
of peace from your girth?
