The beautiful destroyer
I sat alone, aside from the buzz of the party. Glaring at my watch, trying to force the time along.
A tortured mind trying to
heal a broken heart, a heart
that had long since ceased to beat.
I glimpsed her out of the corner of my eye, like a beacon of light in the darkest night. She was looking at me as though with interest, I felt my legs moving toward her and I quickly stopped and
turned away.
"You have had enough pain ",I told myself.
I leaned against the wooden railing staring into the night sky , then the fireworks started, throwing beautiful cadences of light above the black horizon. She suddenly appeared beside me and without a moment's hesitation struck up a conversation.
We spoke of the moon, the stars,
the lillies of the field , the fish in the pond and the trees in the forest.
Such beauty, light and purity
brought a smile.
Alas the time to leave had come
I turned to go and she caught my arm,
whispering for me to wait, the smallest hint of pleading in her voice.
I turned towards her, a question on my face, she quickly stepped forward and caught me in an embrace.
Time slowed down, the people around us faded and she was all I could see.
I felt a rush of warmth through my entire being, my mind ceased it's screaming and my cold dead heart beat ,once ,like a kick in the chest I felt it.
I pulled away, stunned, trying to catch my breath then I felt it beat again, and again and again.
I could feel, the ice around my heart had melted and my tortured mind soothed.
I looked into her eyes and a sense of understanding passed between us and I knew that she had felt it too .
From that day onward things just got better, we saw each other as often as opportunity would allow.
My heart grew more fond of her every day and the past with all of its pain seemed to all drift away, out of my heart and mind.
"Was it her beauty? " you may ask.
Yes, yes it was but not beauty
in terms of what the world deems it to be. It was far more than just physical,
it was in her smile, in her voice,
in the deep emotions of her delicate heart, in the way she viewed things and in her love for people and their upliftment.
Life had never been better
and then one day she left to a far away land, to go and help people,
and I know that it is selfish of me but
I couldn't take it.
Without her there, my life was empty,
the world seemed to become devoid
of life and its beauty.
I no longer, felt the warmth of the Sun on my skin, could smell the scent of the flowers or be soothed by the trickle of the stream.
She had built my heart into a
truly beautiful home and then
left, leaving a hole in my life
where she used to be.
It was not in the way she left me
but in the beautiful way that she built me that destroyed me .
And thus, I leave it all with you,
the tale of
the beautiful destroyer.
