  1. Lyft's newest service: Driving yourself - Lyft is offering car rentals in 3 California cities, San Francisco, Oakland, and Los Angeles. The service operates like a traditional car rental, and includes a $40 Lyft credit to take you to and from the rental location. The minimum age to rent a car is 22, and the service expands other rental options including bikes and scooters.

  2. Central bankers now know: hang together or most assuredly hang separately - To this writer, the fact that central bankers around the world are expected to lower rates, despite the fact that economies are not in recession indicates the deeply interdependent nature of the global economy. Analysts agree that the move is coming, but they are mixed as to whether it will be helpful. Some say it will improve the job market and fuel growh. Others say that the central bankers are basically powerless to effect things because interest rates are already so low.

  3. A tiny Pacific island nation is about to issue its own cryptocurrency - The Republic of the Marshall Islands is planning to issue the Marshallese sovereign (SOV). The idea is to raise revenue, and also get connected more closely to the global financial system. The plan has received expressions of opposition or concern from political opponents as well as the US Treasury and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). A top political advisor to the country's President, however says that it will make it easier to comply with anti-money laundering (AML) regulations.

  4. State Attorneys General Launch Investigations of Facebook and Google - One group of state Attorneys General (AGs) announced an investigation of Facebook on Friday. Led by the AG of the state of NY, the bipartisan group of AGs from seven states and the District of Columbia says they are going to focus on Facebook's: "dominance in the industry and the potential anticompetitive conduct stemming from that dominance." Meanwhile, the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal are reporting that an investigation of Google will be announced on Monday. Facebook issued a statement saying that it plans to cooperate. Google declined to comment on the investigation, but said that it's services help people, create choice for consumers, and support businesses and jobs across the country.

  5. STEEM 3Speak's STEEM Burn Initiative! #NewSteem - One of Steem's two premier video platforms, @threespeak, has announced plans to support Steem's value by burning 3% of author rewards on every post that's made through their platform. This will be accomplished by setting @null as a beneficiary, as has been done for this series of posts since August 25. (A 10% beneficiary setting has been applied to this post for @threespeak.)

In order to help make Steem the go to place for timely information on diverse topics, I invite you to discuss any of these links in the comments and/or your own response post.
