I've always been interested in Cellular Automata and Conway's Game of Life where gliders were first seen. I read Wolfram's huge book, A New Kind Of Science, where a lot of this is discussed. Mind blowing stuff!
It appears to me that SL = Second Life, although not explicitly stated here. I've been in there for 12 years, on and off these days. I believe I read in your intro that you spend time there.

Thanks Kenny! Yes, SL does stand for Second Life (I should have made that clear in the main text: My bad!) I have not read Wolfram's book yet, but I would like to one day.
