NASA. A System with 7 earth like planets has been found. 3 of them can contain life.
An international team of astronomers discovered a planetary system with seven earth like planets. Three of them are located in the zone where conditions for the existence of water and other earth like conditions can be found.
TRAPPIST - 1, Is a small start compared to our sun and is situated at 39.5 light ears from earth. Those starts are more common in our galaxy than sun like starts.
This is not the first system with several planets discovered by us… however it is the first one with so many planets similar to earth, all of them situated in the Gridlock area.
The relatively closeness to our system makes it reasonable to study. Also the fact that all the planets are so close to each other, that astrophysics can estimate the mass of each planet.
According to such studies, the planets should be around 0.4 and 1.4 the size of the earth and they are closer to the start than Mercury is from the sun. Keep in mind the start is smaller than the sun.
However it’s possible that the planets have very toxic atmosphere, like Venus.
The planets are so close to each other, than if you where in one and looked up at the sky you could see the other ones… with much a much more clear vision than we see the moon. (Pretty cool I must say… like the movie “Contact”).
Some believe that it’s possible that they don’t rotate, making a part of the planet always day and another always night.
They will start investigating their atmosphere, chemical impressions and surfaces with more dedication and several other telescopes.
According to NASA official data we know of 348 like the earth in the knowed universe.
You can ask NASA questions in twitter with the askNASA hashtag. Funny enough, they have said that they will answer questions but not on alien life form topic. And they have also said that if there is intelligent life form, they should look like us ( Quite a lot of speculation on that one, if you ask me)
Here’s a short video explaining it:
Ever since I can remember the notion of life existing outside our planet, seemed more like common sense to me… it’s just probabilities… However I will point the reader to “Operation Blue Beam” …
Thanks you for reading this far.
