In our Steemit Universe, CONTENT is queen and COMMUNITY is king.steemCreated with Sketch.

In 1996, Bill gates wrote an article entitled, “Content Is King.”

I am not as smart or as successful as Mr. Gates, so it may be ridiculous for me to say this, but I must respectively disagree with his statement.

I believe that my time participating in the Steemit community proves a different hypothesis.

Content is Queen. Community is King.

Content that sits unconsumed is a lot like the tree that falls in a forest that no one hears fall. Your content may have great potential, but if no one reads it, watches it, or listens to it then you will not have the power to influence change.

The connections you make on Steemit and the social capital you build here are essential to your success in our community.

Without community, there is no way to judge great content. Without community there is no one to appreciate great content.

My advice for all of us is not to neglect or abuse our community. Let's work together to strengthen it and build it!

When we strive for healthy, mutually beneficial relationships with our fellow Steemians, we are building a strong foundation so that we can impact others with our content.

Not ready to make your first post yet? No worries.

You can impact this community before ever writing your first post. Engage people who are creating original content by writing comments and replies. You will start to build a following as people notice your authentic interaction. And when you are ready, write your first post and then another and then another.

And when you have a tough day on Steemit, remember the community. Remember the connections you have made. And remember that you are here to impact peoples' lives as you engage them.

High quality, relevant content is Queen.
Making connections within the Steemit Community is King.

Yeh you're totally right about this, just look at some of the people who post very average content which get's a ton of up votes straight way. It's a shame in a way but also incentivises new users to get out there and make connections!

@captaincanary, thanks for the comment. I think that we need to support content creators who add value for us. As a newer user, I have been assisted by minnow support groups (even with this article), but as mentioned above most of the support comes from views with very little interaction.

I see these types of support groups as necessary as you grow your network, but as services that should be grown out of eventually.
