Amazon.com and the WWW- The Way It Was - Now Steemit!
It's interesting to see how the internet has exploded over the years. I remember waaaay back in 1994-1995'ish when I got those old AOL disks in the mail, put it in my 100MHz blazing fast computer with the 9800 baud rate modem. It was the kind you plugged into a phone jack...with a cord! Chat rooms were becoming the "in thing" but of course, they were only for those weird nerdy people with absolutely no lives whatsoever (yes, that included me).
Little did we know how rapidly things would progress. Take a look at Amazon back in "the day" (images courtesy of Archive.org).
Does it really say copyright 1995-2005? Seems like yesterday, right?
Who would've thought this site would've become the worldwide behemoth it is now? Maybe only Jeff himself did.
Imagine ten years from now (or less), and you're looking at Steemit and the whole cryptocurrency platform. Where will it be compared to now? What if it's a world-changer, like Amazon? What if YOU were a part of the group that made it happen?
I look back on the wonderful years of the early dotcom boom and relish being a part of it. As a very basic "web designer" who knew a little about HTML, I made a good chunk of change. Look at what's going on right now in front of you. Will you be a part of this in the future, or will the future's present be looking at you and asking, "Why didn't you take part in it?"
Food for thought.
I remember when almost nobody had internet and Callcenter was something like a themepark you went in with a whole group and payed to have that experience called "chat" with real persons you never met. Crazy!!! 😂
LOL...definitely!
