RE: Sex Differences: Do females and males have different brains?

in #steemstem7 years ago (edited)

That's a very interesting topic there @alexander.alexis. Nice write up as well.

I've always believed there must be fundamental differences in brain anatomy between men and women and that's one of the main reasons why most females experience higher empathy levels than males. I think that interaction between brain hemispheres is more efficient in the female brain due to a difference in thickness of the membrane separating the brain hemispheres. I'm no expert of course, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Keep up the quality work.

I don't know about empathy. At least I don't know yet. Sometimes subtle changes in wording matter. Like women might be more cooperative, or they might be better listeners, but not necessarily more empathetic.

I know men are overrepresented when it comes to psychopathy and sociopathy, and many other mental illnesses, as I'll explore in a later post, whereas women tend to be more similar to one another (in other words, more males sit on the extremes of the bell curve), so maybe overall there are more empathetic women compared to men.
