Top 4 Social Media Stories Of This Week (Jan 01 - Jan 07 2018 )

in #top7 years ago

Welcome to the New Year 1st week of 2018 top social media stories:

You have just now being remembered as the week when Logan Paul did really stupid, dangerous some would say, that could impact the influencer world forever. Yes, his quest for more and more views has finally removed the little pride. And now, other influencers are doing hard working to distance themselves from him and anything he has done.

Another great name in the digital industry, that’s Mark Zuckerberg, also made the headlines news this week. But in this situation, it was for the fabulous: Mark wants to fix Facebook as part of his new yearly challenge to himself.

Also this week: All branded content ads better perform everything on Facebook, Foot Locker worked with Snapchat for the first ever AR unboxing, and, for some judgment, Instagram Stories can now be published on WhatsApp too.
Are you ready for Instagram Stories directly published on WhatsApp?

So Sorry

I want to apologize to the internet. I want to apologize to anyone who saw the video. I want to apologize to anyone who has been touched or affected by mental illness or depression or suicide.

But most importantly, I want to apologize to the victim and his family.

For my fans who are defending actions please don't, they do not deserve to be defended.

The goal of my content is always to entertain, to push the boundaries, to be all-inclusive.

In the world I live in, I share almost everything I do. The intent is never to be heartless, cruel or malicious.

Like I said I made a huge a mistake. I don't expect to be forgiven, I'm just here to apologize.

I'm ashamed of myself. I'm disappointed in myself.

I promise to be better. I will be better.
Thank you.

Number Two

  • Mark Zuckerberg Wants To Fix Facebook

What He Said?

Every year I take on a personal challenge to learn something new. I've visited every US state, run 365 miles, built an AI for my home, read 25 books, and learned Mandarin.

I started doing these challenges in 2009. That first year the economy was in a deep recession and Facebook was not yet profitable. We needed to get serious about making sure Facebook had a sustainable business model. It was a serious year, and I wore a tie every day as a reminder.

Today feels a lot like that first year. The world feels anxious and divided, and Facebook has a lot of work to do -- whether it's protecting our community from abuse and hate, defending against interference by nation states, or making sure that time spent on Facebook is time well spent.

My personal challenge for 2018 is to focus on fixing these important issues. We won't prevent all mistakes or abuse, but we currently make too many errors enforcing our policies and preventing misuse of our tools. If we're successful this year then we'll end 2018 on a much better trajectory.

This may not seem like a personal challenge on its face, but I think I'll learn more by focusing intensely on these issues than I would by doing something completely separate. These issues touch on questions of history, civics, political philosophy, media, government, and of course technology. I'm looking forward to bringing groups of experts together to discuss and help work through these topics.

For example, one of the most interesting questions in technology right now is about centralization vs decentralization. A lot of us got into technology because we believe it can be a decentralizing force that puts more power in people's hands. (The first four words of Facebook's mission have always been "give people the power".) Back in the 1990s and 2000s, most people believed technology would be a decentralizing force.

But today, many people have lost faith in that promise. With the rise of a small number of big tech companies — and governments using technology to watch their citizens — many people now believe technology only centralizes power rather than decentralizes it.

There are important counter-trends to this --like encryption and cryptocurrency -- that take power from centralized systems and put it back into people's hands. But they come with the risk of being harder to control. I'm interested to go deeper and study the positive and negative aspects of these technologies, and how best to use them in our services.

This will be a serious year of self-improvement and I'm looking forward to learning from working to fix our issues together.

Number Three

  • Posting Instagram Stories Directly To WhatsApp

In a global test, Instagram is letting select users post their Stories directly to their WhatsApp account. A sign of further integration?

In case just think that WhatsApp is part of the Facebook empire, and so is Instagram. A few months after connecting the gap between Instagram Stories and Facebook’s equivalent, the company is now experimenting something related to Instagram and WhatsApp.

TechCrunch reports that Facebook is currently running a test that provides select users to share their Instagram Stories instantly WhatsApp, as a WhatsApp Status (literally the “Stories” setup of WhatsApp). The reason behind this move is simple: Make it effortless to share any moment with the people who matter to you. And of course, this is ok, as long as it stays within the Facebook ecosystem.

This new feature using the API that allows developers to integrate WhatsApp with third-party apps.

It is only allowed to the selected users across the world for the time. As always, it will be operated more users if the experiment is successful. These people have a new option to “tap” on their Instagram Stories that provides to share it directly on WhatsApp. However, they still have to press “send” in WhatsApp to publish the story there.

At a time when multiple users post the same content across platforms, I’m not sure I’m a great fan of this type of integration. Are you?
