Jada Initial D 1:18 Mazda RX7 Review
Hello fellow cool Steemians. I hope everyone is having a grand time.
In this post, I will review another diecast replica which is based on a popular vehicle from the Initial D manga / anime.
As can be seen above, the Initial D diecast showcased in this post is the yellow Mazda RX7 driven by Keisuke Takahashi.
Initial D Background
Before moving on, here is a brief background of the Initial D franchise for the benefit of readers who are not aware.
Initial D is a popular Japanese manga that is written by Shuichi Shigeno. It is popular enough to have it also released in anime. The manga has 48 volumes whereas the anime has 81 episodes. Besides the 81 episodes, Initial D animation has also released OAVs, TV specials, and movies. Speaking of movies, the franchise has also released a live action film which is based on the first season of the anime.
Keisuke Takahashi
Keisuke originally appeared as an antagonist in the Initial D franchise. He is the younger brother of Ryosuke who is the founder of the Red Suns racing team.
He has a hot-headed personality and hated losing. Although he is now considered one of the good guys -- he has a long standing rivalry with Takumi (Initial D's main protagonist)
Mazda RX7 Type R FD3S
Keisuke drives a yellow Mazda RX7 Type R which is also popularly known as FD3S (which denotes its chassis code).
This model is the third generation of Mazda's RX7 series. Given its wide body dimension, this third generation model is already considered luxury sportscar in the upper level category.
Despite its powerful twin turbocharge engine, in the anime, Keisuke was defeated by Takumi who only drives a much older Toyota AE86 model. This shows Takumi's excellent race driving prowess compared to Keisuke's.
The Diecast Model
As for the diecast model, this one is made by toy manufacturer Jada. It is in 1:18 scale which is roughly longer than that of a standard ruler.
There are plenty of good things about 1:18 diecast models that comes with its size. For instance, many models (this one included) has opening doors, front and back hood), and engine details. The wheels are not only sported with rubber tires but can also be steered as well.
Lastly, this particular model is no longer being produced making it quite rare these days. In fact, if one would search online stores or hobby shops, this model is usually listed in the above $50 range.
That's just about it. To end this post, enjoy the photos below:
