Cruising in California

in #travel7 years ago

Last month, I was lucky enough to vacation in gorgeous, sunny California! Over the next few weeks, I intend to write about the trip, and chronicle all my experiences.

For starters, here's a look at our surreal drive along the Pacific Coast highway, a.k.a California-1. The stunning highway meanders along literally the edge of the North American continent, right alongside the ridiculously blue Pacific Ocean (seriously, I haven't seen blues that intense ever before!)

So there I was, tanned and tousled, gaping open-mouthed at vistas that left me speechless -- and that's saying a lot, considering how much I enjoy chattering!

At various points along the drive, we spotted delightful little secret beaches, clean and undisturbed, with water that shimmered in gorgeous hues of blue and green. And before you ask, none of these pictures have been edited, nor any filters applied. That golden sunshine and aquamarine water is all real. 💞

While driving around was amazing in itself, nothing felt as good as stopping at vista points to feel the brilliant sunshine on our skin, and the cool ocean breeze in our hair.

And well, it left me feeling like the Queen of the World! ;)

Thank you so much, @welovesteemit! <3 Very grateful for your support.

Following. I miss Cali so much and drove up and down the PCH. Such a gorgeous drive.

I so agree, @rina.tours.world! We could have driven for hours, if it weren't for a chunk of the highway having been washed away. Such a heartbreaking disaster. But yes, it was definitely one of the highlights of my trip <3 Aching to return!

oh my! washed away? yikes. Aching to return myself

Yes, continental shift or something. A huge chunk of land just collapsed into the ocean. They'll never be able to reconstruct it, so they'll probably have to divert the highway into the forest area for a stretch. But until then, it's shut past Big Sur.

wow...this is a wonderful place to be. my dream destination

It felt like a dream, @travelnepal! So surreal, and it had a blend of calm and energy. And to think that you're literally at the edge of the continent is such an incredible feeling.

Nice! Make a post when you are there @bombaybellyrina

This is a post from when I was there, @tuyetthi :) I'm back in India now.

Wow, excellent shots and super colorful. @bombaybellyrina

Thanks, @doanthuy! :-D Am still very amateur with my photography, hopefully I'll get better. Still figuring how to optimise my cellphone camera.

Looks like a lot of fun!

Oh it really was, @strangerarray! I was tanned to a crisp, and the wind tangled my hair into a veritable bird's nest... but I was grinning from ear to ear :-D
