A place for: those who want to stay in the water for hours

KOH PHI PHI

Actually, Koh Phi Phi is not a separate atoll but an archipelago of six tiny islands. The largest one and the only inhabitable one is Phi Phi Don. To be honest, Western conveniences have skirted this place, not so many tourists with beaches and hotels not quite up to the same standard as say, Koh Samui. What makes up for that is definitely the cleanest ocean in Thailand, where the water nearly glows from down under and you can see the ocean bed dozens of meters down. This place is unrivalled for snorkelling and diving. Phi Phi has everything for you to try plunging into the water with a mask and paddles, scores of schools, professional instructors and low equipment fees. The island has several spots with drastically different underwater landscapes: Hin Klang coral reef, Monkey Beach coastal reef and the rocky surroundings of Hin Phae. All three are worth seeing.

We choose: Zeavola Resort11 Moo 8 Laem Tong, Ao Nang, Krabi

A few words: The most prestigious and expensive hotel on the island, decorated in national style: when you go out onto the inner patio, you see wild jungle stretching forward.Standard double room: from $230
