In april 2016 I have visited Peru to discover this country of the Mayas. With 2 friends I have traveled around and enjoyed the time over there. Peru is especially known, because of Machu Picchu, llamas and it's famous Ceviche.. These were enough reasons for me to visit Peru....and in particular Machu Pichu, because these ruins were on top of my bucketlist:)

After one day in Lima and having tasted our first delicious Ceviche our journey continued to Cuzco. Cuzco is a little city where many people begin their journey to Macchu Pichu. This city is so cute! For me the first day was kind of hard, because of the high altitude. My lungues were having difficulties to breath. But the environment was breathtaking and this made me feel much better.

From Cuzco we took the bus to Poroy and traveled per train to Aguas Calientes, because this was the final stop on our way to Machu Picchu. It is small village where you can prepare for your walk to Machu Picchu and enjoy the natural hot pools.

The next day we woke up early to start the trip to Macchu Picchu. From our hostel we walked to the bridge that is the starting point to climb up to the entrance of Machu Picchu. When I started to climb I did not know how long it would take to reach the entrance. This climbing was really a hell, but I knew that it was worth suffering. I lost my friends on the way up, because I really wanted to see the sunrise at the sungate. Thousands of steps later I had reached the entrance point of Machu Picchu. At the entrance there was already a big queue of people who had reach the top with the bus.

Together with a guy I met in the hostel earlier I entered Machu Picchu. I told him that I was directly heading to the Sun Gate, because I wanted to see the sunrise. We would meet up at the top of the Sun Gate. I noticed that it was very misty that morning, but I had hope the mist would vanish before the sunrise. This hope was unfairly, because the mist stayed and I did not see the sunrise or the Machu Picchu ruins from the top of the Sun Gate. I felt so dissapointed. For hours it was misty and I lost all hope that the mist would dissapear. And then 5 hours later....the sky finally cleared up. I was finally able to see Machu Picchu! A happy feeling came all over me and now I could really tick off Machu Picchu from my bucketlist.
