The world’s most powerful passport is determined by the number of Visa –Free entry a country’s passport has. What this means is that how many countries an individual with a particular country’s passport can visit without a Visa is what determine’s the strength of the country’s passport. In this regard, according to the 2018 Henley Passport Index, Germany has the Most Powerful Passport. The country has held this prestigious position for five years in a row.

German Nationals can visit up to 177 countries without any visa requirement.

The data is collected from the world’s largest and most comprehensive database of travel information- The International Air Transport Association.

Although, Singapore overtook Germany in October last year, Germany managed to reclaim the top stop by the end of the year.

According to the Group Chairman of Henley And Partners, Dr. Christian H. Kälin, thinks the need for visa-free access is greater than ever.

In his words, “The Henley Passport Index shows individuals where they lie on the spectrum of global mobility, revealing the strength that their passport has in relation to other passports.”

And in Africa, the country with the most powerful passport is the Seychelles with 137 visa –free access.

This is followed by Mauritius and South Africa at 131 and 98 respectively.

And Nigeria is ranked 25th on the continent and 91 globally with a visa- free access of 44German-Passport.png
