RE: [Vlog] Why I'm bullish on Steemit Communities for 2018 & models for monetisation
I agree people should start building now. The principles are the same now or when Communities/ SMTs arrive. I.e. can you engage and on-board people and build a "Community"?
The functionality is a tool to make it easier all round but the basic building blocks are here now and will only add to credibility of 'influencers' claiming to be able to build succesful Communities/ SMTs in the future.
Exactly, most people think they need the 'Communities' function in order to form a Community when in reality all it takes is true social interaction and a want to see something grow in a organic direction. At any rate, I believe one of the successful ways to build a community is the merging of 2 distinct groups. People with large SP( aka whales ) whom want to see certain communities grow and are willing to delegate,upvote/resteem & People with low SP, but great work ethic and a good resume ( via their post which act as a body of work ).
Communities will work best if we can get rid of this Whale/Minnow complex and start seeing users for their body of work and value.
The common bond between both users is there. Its Social Standings & Economic Class Status that divide us.
Sorry for that rant! Anyway here is to hoping that both sides of the same coin finally realize they are both valuable.
P.S. I just found out a few days ago that 'influencers' is a real thing on the chain. How naive of me. lol
Good spot, like that opinion a lot and agree :-).
It is unfair that the great harlot takes everything
Good idea to build now - we all should build the future on Steemit now :-). The only thing I am not sure yet if we need to build something around a certain special named account we own for a community or around certain tags we might have created. Hope soon we know more, thanks guys!
I think tags would be better, that way the community could post freely w/o having to worry about it going through the main account, but maybe have 1 main account that reps the whole community and resteems/upvotes content that comes from them.
I think building around tags (for now) and reserving an account with that name might be a good way to go. When Communities arrive you can advise people to post to the Community instead of using the tag.
Makes sense - I had a thought on that some months ago and checked available account names and realized for most of the communities I had in mind accounts are already in place / booked. Building around the tag for now is best solution I think for the community. Thanks again guys.
