RE: Bash Script to Monitor Your Witness Node
I'm three days into being a backup witness for Steemit, and I'm still geeking out about it!
Oh yes. This isn't something you set it, and forget it -- Ron Popeil
LOL... Being a responsible witness means, you go to bed at night. You wake up again in the morning, and the first thing you do BEFORE you pour a coffee is check your witness node. :)
That's what I was doing constantly! I knew I had to come up with a solution to at least give me a little bit of peace of mind so I could feel comfortable walking away from my laptop for a bit. :)
I know, you know... I think I was basically telling everyone... instead of you... and making a funny out of the ordeal. It's quite a task. I think you can be good at it. The fact you care so much, proves it to me already. :)
Thanks. I'm having a ton of fun with this and learning a lot. I'm so thankful to be doing this.
It feels good, doesn't it... to support something as cool as steemit from the backend... to help "prop up" the network in your own (albeit) little way at first.
(Not saying you couldn't have a huge witness node cluster later.. anyway)
Without backup witnesses like yourself, this system could have been dominated by huge players and taken down a path none of us would want it to go.
By solving a block, yourself, with your node "here and there".. you're providing a fantastic service. WHO KNOWS.. this comment I'm making right now, could have been verified by a @lukestokes witness node. It could be just like that... :)
Keep up the great work.
