After a longer walk this evening I was drawn outside again, because the moon was hanging so beautifully in the sky that I had to take a picture. At about 4 pm position I saw a small, bright dot.
Yes, it is Mars, who, at the moment, is about 105 million km away from us (0.7 AU). The moon is 68% illuminated and is currently 400 000 km away from Earth.
I took the picture without a tripod, You can hold 1/60 sec still without blurring the photo.
The mechanics of all celestial bodies running over us is always a miracle for me and absolutely fascinating to me.

This is the actifit posting account of @peter2017, an ambitious guy with a bunch of old bones. I'm trying to enhance my health and fitness mainly by walking, cycling and sometimes running.
Toll mach weiter so!!!

Great picture, the moon is looking fantastic in the dark sky. I didn't know mars was visible from earth😁

In Kenia you can see Mars too! The screenshot below (from a sky-software) shows the Moon and Mars, how you would see them in your country. Can you verify it for me whether this is correct? Mars, of course, much, much smaller, not as brilliant like in this screenshot!
(alias @actifit-peter)
I wouldn't know, I mostly only notice the moon and those little stars. On the days it isn't cloudy I will try to check if I can see mars. It is a whole other mysterious world out there in outerspace 😁

Great educational actifit post! Love that you try to keep it interesting. One of my writing project is a science fiction romance based on the moon, it’s on hold atm. I am forever tempted to switch it to Mars, as I’m more fascinated with the red planet. Only, I get hung up on the distance and all kinds of technical difficulties. :)
Hi Linny!
yes, I try to keep these little actifit-posts interesting. It is not easy though! Today I had a little quiz, which was solved very quickly.
I am quite interested in your writing project. A Moon romance would be great, but as you mention it yourself, a love story on Mars would be fantastic! Do not let stop you by the distances and the scientific data about Mars. Ask Elon Musk he knows all about it! :-)
Additionally you need to know that there are green little martians on Mars eating green-colored marshmellows! :-) Yeah, there is life on Mars! :-)
But seriously, I endorse you to write such a novel and I could imagine it could be very successful. And after you have published the book in Englisch, please talk with me for a translation in German. There are a lot of german science fiction enthusiasts here.
