Steem Total Value Powered Up - $41 million - August 7, 2022

in #metrics2 years ago

This is next in my series of posts reviewing the amount and value of powered up STEEM on the Steem blockchain. For previous posts, see the end of this entry.

Noteworthy in the last week

  • Week over week, the number of powered up STEEM increased by about 5K, or 0%.
  • Over the course of the week, we saw five daily increases and no new highs in number of STEEM powered up.
  • The modeled value of powered-up STEEM gained ground against all comparison values, except for SBD. Changes ranged from -1% against SBD and 3/4% against ETH to +3% against BTC.
  • In terms of all comparison values except for TRX, and USD, today's locked value is higher than the January 1, 2022 baseline.
  • This week saw a total of 560K STEEM powered down, which is a decrease of 12% as compared to last week's 636K STEEM.
  • We noticed this week that the pending powerdowns reported by SteemDB seem to be underreported by somewhere around 10-25% (or more), so I'm collecting pending powerdowns from the Steemit API now.

Here are some descriptive statistics, for numbers geeks.

VESTED STEEM

With a weekly increase of about 5k, or 0%, the graph is basically flat for its 9th consecutive week.

Modeled value of powered-up STEEM in terms of USD

In terms of USD, we saw a weekly increase of about 400K dollars, or about 1%. The value is still below the long-term mean, and holds above its recent low near $34 million. It also remains above the low of ~27 million from June 22, 2021.

Modeled value of powered-up STEEM in terms of Steem Dollars

Down by about 144K SBDs or 1%

image.png

Modeled value of powered-up STEEM as a percentage of Steem's market cap

Still running basically flat for the last couple of months - aside from an anomalous spike on April 26. Daily Powerdown Activity

Here is graph with data from steemdb.io to show daily completed and pending powerdown activity. With 560K in completed powerdowns last week and 477K pending (both measured from Sunday through Saturday), we can expect powerdowns to decline next week by about 15% or more. However, this does not include 237K in pending powerdowns that are booked for Sunday, August 14.

The horizontal lines are the average values for completed (blue) and pending (cyan) powerdowns, and the yellow line is a 28 day moving average of completed powerdowns.

As noted above, the "pending powerdown"number is coming from the Steemit API now, not from steemdb.io, because steemdb.io seems to be underreporting by a substantial margin. A side-effect from this change is that we can now see ahead into the 8th day.

Here are some descriptive statistics for the numbers geeks:

477K pending powerdowns

This coincides with my queries :-)
It is quite strange that the data at steemdb.io deviates so much:
Last week 481K were predicted there, but in fact it was 560K.

It's a pity that the decline in powerdowns may be interrupted next Sunday. We will see...

The price of SBD is what motivates me the most, it has always exceeded the price of STEEM, I have a goal and I am achieving it, I hope that the price of SBD helps me.
I wish you a happy start of the week

good information from you. But power downs are also high. I hope they are not dumped in the market.

Steem price has been stable in recent days. If this stability changes, the number of powerups will also change.

Thanks for the variety of choice, you have presented us with, more of these challenges is encouraging to increase community participation. Hopefully, this would go a long way to increase my involvement on this platform, as I seek to add more assets on my trusted and decentralized wallet application from https://atomicwallet.io/, for safe keeping.
