The AAKOM Project - Trying to Understand What You Can't See

in #aakom7 years ago

Deep breath. Reboot. Sometimes there are just too many things to do at the same time. Sometimes the vision of the whole appears so vast as to be unachievable. At that point, it is worth going back to the original idea.

There is no attempt to create a new system, especially as there are so many questions still unanswered; so many questions still poorly articulated. Indeed, answers are often swift once the question has been properly formulated.

When it comes to scientific systems, properly constructed questions should yield unambiguous and clear answers. This is usually not the case when the science is new and the fields investigated are virgin, but the hope, the aim, is for clarity - even if it is a complex clarity.

The fields I am most interested in at the moment come under the umbrella of biophysics; this involves all interactions of biological systems (such as you and I) with physical systems (such as electromagnetic radiation), including the physical interactions between and within biological systems. There are many sub-fields here, and I would include the neurosciences under this broad umbrella.

But as soon as one tries to explain something to someone else, the process of communication moves away from mere information into the realm of psychology and mental constructs. As a teacher, one of the hardest things to do is to undo a student's misconception. The amount of rubbish that seems to float around most people's heads is no longer astonishing, but remains a very serious problem in tackling the very serious problems afflicting almost every human being on this planet.

Out of sight is out of mind. Materialism as a philosophy died many centuries ago, yet remains the predominant mode of thinking because it is the main vector of communication. You see a shiny new phone but can't see that you've just bought yet another microwave transmitter and have just added yet another unit of electromagnetic pollution. You can't see the toxins in your food and drink. You can't see the nuclear radiation in the sea and air. Our culture has remained glued to materialism precisely so you can't see the attacks coming.

Out of sight is out of mind.

One of my favourite writers at the moment is Jon Rappoport and I shall make reference to some of his most illuminating articles. However, what I wanted to highlight here is that some of his daily posts seem to go over the same theme - over and over again - and are undoubtedly adverts for his books and courses. But that is not all they do; by saying the same thing in different words, he is trying to bridge that gap between understanding and action.

I suspect that one of the consequences of having a highly efficient brain is that much of what it does is automatic. This is a kind of laziness; most people really find it hard to change their ideas. Thus, repetition is merely the same technique that advertisers use.

So as I restart this blog, I will be going over certain themes - over and over again. Different words, different references, different videos, same message: everything you believe is wrong.

"If you're going to do your own thinking, that means giving up all belief!" RBF

Nobody said it was going to be easy...

... but it is fascinating when you try.

So true...to allow new ideas to enter the mind old ways of belief must disappear.
