The I in Experience
The theme this year is 'Experience' – capturing and communicating the feeling of a real and tangible device that is not just a smartphone or a tablet.

The I in Experience, therefore, applies to any technology and an experience that meets this requirement.

Some trends that we expect to emerge in 2022 are:

Self-Driving Cars

The automotive industry is a prime example of a sector that is trying to speed up the pace of innovation. Self-driving cars are already out on the market and as much as half of all new car sales will have a self-driving option in 2021. The first pilots will take place next year with new models following suit in 2020.

So I'll have to admit, with no significant forward progress having been made on #1 since 2001 (and very little forward progress indeed since 2014), it's tempting to become a bit complacent and get a little relaxed. The passage of the next 16 years might well end with us having the luxury of writing a 'prequel' to today's inevitable displacement by new forms of information technology, with the consequences that will have on our lives as we know them today.

Indeed, I don't for a moment think we're likely to see anything like the massive crisis and fall of a digital economy we've been told we'll have to endure in the coming years.

Pre-scheduled, predetermined tasks are becoming more and more infrequent and are almost as obsolete as the telephone switchboard. The transition to the technological age has had its inevitable ups and downs for many areas of the human experience. It's at times like these that creativity and creativity in technology merge to bridge the gap.

We’re quickly approaching the dawn of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and the promise of 5G, Big Data, Blockchain, and AI seems close enough to touch. Technology companies must solve the complex, business-level challenges of all of these trends, and today’s devices and software do not create a solid foundation.

Over the last 20 years, much of the power has been in the hands of software engineers. New devices and applications require very little hand-holding for their end users, so most technical innovations come from there. This creates an imbalance, which means that businesses are still missing the big picture.
