 INTRODUCTION TO DATA PROCESSING

Data: This is the term used to describe the basic factsnintroduced as the input to a system e.g rate of pay and hours worked by an employee.
Information: When data is passed to produce useful information.
Output: It is described as information i.e Assembling of data into a meaningful form e.g payroll
Data Processing: This is a term used to describe the series of action taken to produce useful information from raw data. It is the process of collecting all items of data together to produce meaningful Information.

  STAGES OF DATA PROCESSING

Many system and in particular those associated with information can be divided into three part:

1. Input data

2. Processing data

3. Output data
   Data processing stage can be summarized into what is called data processing. Sysytem as illustrated in the following figure.

4. Manual Data Processing: The manual data processing is a processing of using physical energising in performing mathematics Operations. Here, human labour is used for data processing which makes processig to be slow, inacurate and costly.

5. Mechanical Data Processing: The mechanical data processing was a futher development of manual processing. This method is faster and more accurate than the manaul.

6. Elecctronic Data Processing: The electronic method makes it possible for manaul and mechanical to be substituted with electronic computers. The processing is faster than the mechanical method. They stored program concept and allow meditation to be done using program execution. The program can be stored and modified with highspeed (Speed of light)
