Government Discusses Cannabis Prevention in Aceh

BANDA ACEH - Governor of Aceh drh. Irwandi Yusuf, M. Sc, attended the discussion meeting of Grand Design Alternative Development (GDAD) Aceh, Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at BAPPENAS Taman Suropati Jakarta office.

Meetings with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), BAPPENAS, and the relevant Ministries were attended by the Regent of Aceh Besar, Bireun Regent, and Regent Gayo Lues.

The Alternative Development Program is a program specifically designed to reduce and replace Narcotics crops with other profitable crops, and the program has been successful in many Narcotics producing countries.

Governor of Aceh Irwandi Yusuf said, to overcome the problem of narcotics in Indonesia in general, and especially in Aceh is also required approach Alternative Development program arranged in a framework of Grand Design Alternative Development which aims to replace the narcotic crops and turn the profession growers of marijuana into farmers in the production of Unggulan .

Due to the impact of marijuana production and its misuse multidimensi harm the nation, both physically, psychologically, socially, economically, culturally, security and resilience of the nation, said Irwandi as quoted from the Head of Public Relations and Protocol of Aceh Government Mulyadi Nurdin.

According to him, the failure to prevent and block marijuana from Aceh not to spread throughout Indonesia causes the production and abuse of marijuana everywhere.

The Aceh government with the Aceh Troe program, and Aceh Meugoe are very concentrated on efforts to prosper the community through agriculture and plantation, so to foster the people who are involved in growing cannabis will be guided to plant other plants that are productive, halal and economically promising.

Therefore, the Governor acknowledged that the goal of the Grand Design Alternative Development (GDAD) is to eradicate marijuana production in the province of Aceh, especially in three districts in Aceh as the most commonly found marijuana area.
