Media power and empowering media is important for social control.

In the Trainer of Training, I became one of the participants reported, the training by Harry Surjadi who is now the initiator and development of the birth of Citizen Jurnalisme in Indonesia.

Harry Surjadi said, Citizen Jurnalism was born and developed because the demands of marginalized people because they do not have access to the media.

" Citizen Jurnalism’s function is also to provide empowering media to lower-class society," said Harry Surjadi.

This is because the mainstream role of the media that has authority over the inherited reporting sometimes does not voiced the voice of the people because of its alignment with the authorities, corporations and others so that the media does not perform its function as a watch dog (supervision).

Therefore, CJ will address the issue by opening access to the grassroots community.

Hari Surjadi exemplifies the success of the CJ program by training grassroot communities in Kalimantan involving Local TV (RuaiTV) and Media Tempo.

"CJ's role has been successful in advocating land dispute cases between the community and the company," said Harry.
