Greeting highly esteemed Stemians,

This post is on my achievement 2 to set out my understanding of the Steemit platform and how the keys function and also their use and storage.

Question 1: Have you retrieve all your keys on Steemit?

Yes, i have claimed all my Steemit keys from my Master Password, owner key, active key, memo key and posting key, and first store them in my hard drive and also get to store them in my google drive in case of hard drive failure i won't loose the keys.

Question 2: Do you know each of these keys functions and restrictions?

Yes, i've gone through the Steemit documentation and have a full mastery of the various keys and their respective functionalities. I'll list the keys below with each keys respective functionality. The list goes thus;

Starting with the top most important key: Master Password.
The Master password which is also a key though not often referred to Master key because of its superior functionality as the mother key to all other keys which means the "Master Password" is the key used to generate other keys. The Master Password is also referred to as the "seed key" because it is the first primary key created and it is from it that all other keys are generated.
The Master Password as mother key can use perform many functions from social activities to financial activities. The Master Password because of its diverse functionality can also be used for everything though no an encouraged idea as it is suppose to be kept secure and if all other keys are used appropriately then the master password might really never be used unless when there is need to regenerate other keys.
The master password(key) is that key you don't want to mess around with because someone having access to your master password has access to your account and can do whatever they like with you account. So the key should be well stored and secure from reach of hackers and cross site scripting(XSS) theft.

Owner Key;
This key is a very important key. the Master key can change any key of an account including the owner key. Its safe storage is meant to be put offline and can also be used used to recover lower keys like posting key, owner key and active key.

Active Key;
The active key is used to transfer funds, voting for witness, power up/down transactions, converting of Steem Dollars, placing a market order and updating profile details and avatar.

Memo Key;
This is key is used for encrypting and decrypting memos when transferring funds.

Posting key;
The posting key comes at the bottom of the hierarchy( that's in comparison between all the keys) as it is the most commonly used of all the keys. The posting key can only used for social activities like posting, commenting, upvoting and downvoting. The posting key handle activities that don't need a high level of security or authorization but incase you loose your posting key and need to retrieve your Posting Key, go to the permissions tab inside your Steemit wallet. Your public Posting Key will be at the top of the page and alongside it you will see a button that says “SHOW PRIVATE KEY.” When you click on that button you will be prompted to input your Active Key or Master Password. Once you do so, your private Posting Key will be displayed. At this point you might want to consider saving this key which is very important.

Question 3: How do you plan to keep your master password?

I master password is to be stored in my google drive (encrypted), my computer and also stored offline.

Question 4: Do you know how to transfer your Steem token to another steem user account?

Yes. I will take a simple walk through how to do so with some screenshots of how do have it done

Step one: Left Click on the avatar icon to show a drop down menu, and click on wallet

Step two: In your wallet, click on the arrow pointing down on steem and choose transfer

Step three: in the menu that appears, type the username of the account you are transferring the steem token to.

Step four: Click next, then confirm.

And the the Steem tokens will be transfered to another steem user account.

Question 5:Do you know how to power up your Steem?

Yes. Powering up Steem follows a procedure which i'll walk through with some sample screenshots for better understanding.
Step one; move to your profile, click and choose wallet

Step two; In your wallet, Click on the arrow pointing down on Steem and click on power up.

Step four; Put the amount for the power up and click the Power Up to confirm.

Hope my Answers to the above questions and directions will be of help to someone walking through the Steemit ecosystem.

Hi @codingherald owner key can be derived from Master Password and as you explained above, there's a little bit of correction to be made, only Master Password can be used to recover your stolen/compromised account.

thanks a lot let me correct it right away

i've updated it it was a spelling error thanks for the correction

Owner key is another key that can be created from Master Password. We can also create other keys with owner key, lower level key such as posting key, active key and memo key. Only Master Password can be used for account recovery. Owner Key cannot be used to recover our account.

ok thanks that was actually for the master key but let me correct it now

Hi, you must add the required tags for your achievement to be visible: #achievement2

Thanks the tag is there don't know why it wasn't visible

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️it's the #achievement2 tag is not showing even though the tag is present🤦‍♂️

or maybe i can delete the post and rewrite 🤦‍♂️

Oh, I see that you have already published your achievement 2 in the community, so you just have to follow the instructions there:

https://steemit.com/hive-172186/@codingherald/achievement2-basic-security-tips-on-steemit

🤦‍♂️its been over a month now with this same achievement just silent🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

It is because you must edit and write in your own words, as it has plagiarism.

I recommend that you edit it and rewrite what you understood. So I can verify you, if not no.
