Moraine Lake: Taking off our life jackets and capturing true beauty
@mickeybeves @allisonfrija and I took the first day of Allison’s visit to see the most beautiful lake in Banff National Park, Moraine Lake. It certainly is a spot you can’t miss if you ever visit this stunning National Park that boarders B.C and Alberta in Canada, but it is insanely crowded. If you don’t get up early and visit the lake you are sure to get caught in the crowds, you will be forced to park in overflow parking and pay to take a shuttle up to the lake but even if you do get there late it’s worth the hassle!
We had planned to go early but since we had a late night we slept in which had us caught in the masses, the shuttle was a 15min ride on a crowded bus up to the lake where we were dropped off and we headed straight for canoe rentals. Canoe rentals are first come first serve and the rentals cost 105CAD for an hour on the lake but seeing as the view is the most spectacular it was worth the money! Although it was crowded we had no problem getting a 3 person canoe with only a couple minutes wait, the man who assisted us informed us of the waters temperature of 42 degrees f as it melted directly off the glacier and gave us few rules, with the most important being don’t take off your life jackets and of course that’s exactly what we had planned to do.
Once we were on the lake we couldn’t help but admire and snap pictures of the landscape that even in person seemed too beautiful to be real, once we got our fill we paddled a ways out and removed our life jackets for the sake of amazing pictures! Once we felt satisfied with our haul and with admiring the view we headed back to shore and grabbed a bite to eat from their cafe. We had a successful trip and one that I deemed my all time favorite lake thus far!
If you are ever in the area this lake is a must see!
