Striped Bass Fly Casting Update #2 — Bigger Fish Starting to Push Up the Coast

in #adventure7 years ago (edited)

Worth the Wade!

Today's fish chasin' excursion dropped us onto Wingaersheek Beach, in the historic fishing town of Gloucester, MA. The goal of the trip was not just to locate and catch stripers, but catch big stripers.. on the fly. And boy did we succeed. Around high tide, we started wading out into the Atlantic. The rain was coming down and the current was strong, but it couldn't stop us. We waded just far enough to get our flies to a current change behind a rocky shoal — where stripers like to pin bait in. Pats two handed rod produced the best results because he could cast the furthest.

Pat caught these two beauties on a 12-foot echo boost 8 weight fly rod throwing a deceiver. Hopefully, this is just the beginning.

Nothing better than catching a fish on a self-tied fly!

All flies and gear can be located at Capefish Clothing Company Outfitters and Fly Shop located in South Hamilton, MA.

Now get out there and fish!
