A Trip That changed my life

in #adventure7 years ago

At the age of 20, Got arrested at a place 9000 kms away from India !

My trip to Indonesia ( Bali) was the one that completely changed me.

4 incidents in my 6 day trip have made me a very different person, I suppose.

INCIDENT 1 -

4th April, 2017

Made a Mexican model my friend. (This might be very easy for some but for someone like me it was really very tough)

INCIDENT 2-

Lost control of my jetski and as a result me and my sister were floating In the bali sea for several minutes till the coast guard rescued us.

Worst part- my sister has this big phobia of sharks. ( you can guess what would've happened later)

This is a photograph taken just minutes before our fall. See how happy my sister was before the ride ended !

INCIDENT 3 -

Rented out a scooter in ubud, bali. This was done by me even though my dad instructed me not to do so as I was not having an IDL ( international driving license)

Went wrong way, got arrested, behind bars for 30 mins till I got some sense and bribed the policeman with 500,000 rupiah ( around 40 dollars). This was the scariest thing that has happened to me. All this happened while my parents were enjoying the stress relieving Balinese spa and their son was at the verge of an heart attack.

Best part- parents are still not aware of this incident.

INCIDENT 4-

Experienced the beauty of mother nature. Before this trip I wanted to earn to buy big cars but now I would rather spend on travelling around the world.

Lessons learnt-:

  1. Always abide by the rules specially when on foreign soil.
  2. Have the courage to initiate conversations. Life might surprise you in a big way.
  3. Speed thrills but kills ( had learnt this somewhere back in class 4, but now I realise how true this is)
4.Your thrill should not be done at the cost of your loved ones. What would have had my parents done if I had gotten arrested? (Driving without IDR is punishable for imprisonment for up to a period of 3 years.Had the policeman been honest…..I would been writing this answer from some prison cell in Indonesia!)
    God is great.
