Hair Loss Myths
source
Summary:
Myths generally are present for almost anything and everything, this doesn't exclude hair loss. This article talks about the myths and techniques to focus on that really stop hair loss.
It is not surprising that hair loss myths are more well known than hair loss facts , this is due to companies who promote sales of their hair loss prevention products. Many companies have jumped on the hair loss bandwagon because of our own enormous desires to eliminate hair loss from our lives, not to mention the unlimited amount of money that we are willing to spend on this quest. This makes the hair loss market ripe for perpetuating myths that will increase sales of the products. Some of the most common myths are as follows;
#1. Male pattern baldness comes from the mother side of the family and skips a generation. Well that's not true. There's no single gene that causes baldness. Most researches that has been done believe that MPB is a result of several genes, inherited from both parents, interacting with each other to cause hair loss.
#2. Pattern baldness affect men only. Not true. Hair is just as common in woman as it is in men. Just ask any woman suffering from hair loss. Most women exereince a less virulent form and it's easier to hide due to their hair being able to thin out over the entire scale area, whereas men's hair thins in patches.
#3. Poor blood flow to the scalp area results in hair loss. This myth kills me and we find many companies selling products off this one, giving drugs or topical creams that increase blood flow to the scalp. LOL. Ask any dermatologist, they will tell you bald scalps have as much blood flow as scalps full of hair, this is the reason why hair transplant works so well.
By 40 if you haven't lost your hair, you will never. NOT TRUE!!... In my last post, I made mention of hormones and this is influenced genetically . If you're genetically predisposed to loose hair, you're going to.
I could go on and on concerning hair myths and not run out of words. The point here is, most facts we think we know concerning this subject matter are not true. Consult a nearby dermatologist and he will be able to give you fall tual reasons for your hairline loss and advise you on what type of medications will work for your specific case.
