It's been a while I posted some of my health articles, so I have decided to talk a bit about joint pains and arthritis. Basically, our joints form the connections between the bones and they provide us with the support needed to move. So, any form of damage to our joints as a result of injury and/or disease can greatly interfere with our movement and lead to severe pains that could last for several weeks or even months.

Causes of Joint Pain

There are several health conditions that lead to joint pain and even injuries can also lead to joint pains. Some of these conditions include:

  • Bursitis
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Gouts
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Sprains
  • Strains and
  • Other types of injuries

The problem of joint pain is a common one and one of the most common types of joint pain is the knee pain which is followed by shoulder and hip pain, however, joint pain can definitely affect any part of the body which could be the hands, ankles, feet as well as the shoulders. One important thing to note is that as we get older, the painful joints will also become more common.

Joint pains can range from mildly irritating pains to debilitating pains that may either go away within few weeks when they are acute while the chronic joint pain can last for several weeks and even months. When you have any painful joint, then consider visiting your doctor and you also need to make several changes to your lifestyle as well as your diet. For instance, you need to avoid certain types of foods that can lead to inflammation such as:

  • Excess salt
  • Gluten
  • Red meat
  • Dairy
  • Processed foods
  • Unhealthy fats
  • Refined Carbs as well as sugars
  • Tobacco and alcohol
  • Diet soda
  • Food additives
  • Fried Foods

It has been recommended that those having rheumatoid arthritis should focus on the Mediterranean Diet which increases the level of the nutrients that help to reduce the inflammatory actions of the immune system. So, you should consider making great changes to your diet and lifestyle to help relieve joint pain and also your dependence on medication.

Some of the foods you mentioned are in general deleterious to health (not specific to arthritis) but others are perfectly alright unless patient has some specific underlying etiology like glutein in celiac sprue.PicsArt_03-04-04.42.16-1.png
