AIRPORT UNDER ATTACK: Up to 30 rockets launched as US and NATO leaders land in Kabul
DOZENS of rockets exploded in and around Kabul Airport in Afghanistan as US Defence Secretary James Mattis and NATO General Jens Stoltenberg arrived today.
Explosions were reported at Kabul Airport as NATO leader Jens Stoltenberg and US General James Mattis landed in Afghanistan.
There have been reports of upto 30 rockets hitting the airport this morning.
Interior ministry spokesman Najib Danish said in a tweet: “A rocket landed near the airport this morning. No casualties reported.”
All flights have been cancelled and the airport has been evacuated.
One witness said he counted at least "13 explosions" and it has been reported that there were 20-30 rockets involved in the attack.
It is thought the target could have been the NATO base adjoining the airport.
