The Journey to Alaska

in #ala7 years ago (edited)

The journey began at 4:00 am in hot and humid Miami, Fl as my alarm screeched beside me. I didn't realize that the 45 minute drive to Fort Lauderdale International Airport would be just a sliver of the day's travel plans. The first plane took roughly 5 hours, landing in Los Angeles at around 9:30 am. The flight to Seattle took about 2 hours and 40 minutes. It was interesting to see the landscape thousands of feet down below morph from the barren desert to the green forests of the Pacific NorthWest and then roll into the snow top covered mountain ranges of Alaska.
Here are some pictures from the sky!

After over 18 hours of cross country traveling, I finally touched down in Anchorage, Alaska where the journey still was not over. The last leg of this amazing voyage was an hour drive to the town of Palmer, AK which will be my home for the net two months. The views from the van were fascinating!

WHAT BROUGHT ME TO ALASKA?
Alaska is known to be a flocking ground for the outdoorsy people of the world with all that it has to offer. Fortunate for me, it is also home to the Alaskan Collegiate Baseball League, which every summer brings in collegiate baseball players to play in the organized league. This summer, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity presented to me to come to the amazing place and here I am finally! Alaska is so different from the "Lower 48" as the locals like to refer to the rest of the continental U.S. and is a site worth experiencing for oneself.
Hope you guys enjoy the photos that I have taken of the scenery thus far here!
