Aliens looking at earth from space
What would an alien civilisation think about our little planet as they approach with their spaceship?
1. What are these guys doing to their planet?
Instead of planing for a sustainable future, resources are being exploited, poison is emitted into the atmosphere and water, trash is deposited into the oceans. Radioactive waste is stored without significant safety. The remaining natural spots are destroyed for a few years of profit. The inhabitants on the planet seem to be unable to think or plan and cooperate for the common good.
2. Humans are cruel
Humans seem to have little respect for the lives of other species or even other humans. Animals are mistreated and farmed in factories with no respect for their suffering. Instead of living beings they are treated as objects.
3. What is up with nuclear weapons
For some reasons the humans have created a large arsenal of nuclear bombs that serve no purpose other than being able to destroy life on earth a few times. At any moment some mistake (and humans seem to make a lot of them) might destroy the entire human civilisation
4. Humans are farmed
The planet cut up by "borders", artificial lines that humans are not allowed to cross without asking some other humans for their permission. The humans are kept inside these regions and their productivity is funnelled into the hands of small elite. Only that this elite does not seem to have any special skills or benefit for the other farmed humans.
5. Humans kill other humans for no apparent reason
Some places on earth are in a state of "war". There people that have no interest in the place and dont even want to be there kill and harass others that live on the land. When they are done and the area is devastated they leave to continue in some other place.
After observing this the aliens are likely to turn around and leave. There is no point interacting with these barbarians. Maybe they will come back in a few hundred years after humans have completed destroying themselves and see if the planet, that is excellent for life, can be saved and be restored to be habitable again.
I think the aliens would like cryptocurrency. But yeah, they would probably haul ass when they saw the deplorable state of society.
