A herculean effort by Punam Raut (86) and Harmanpreet Kaur (51) went into vain as England beat India by nine runs in the ICC Women's World Cup, on Sunday, at Lord's. Losing Smirti Mandhana for a duck and then Mithali Raj for 17, India stuttered in their run-chase. However patient batting from Punam and Harmanpreet steadied the Indian innings. Disciplined bowling by Anya Shrubsole (6/46) in the last five overs of the match did the trick as India lost quick wickets. With this win, England lift their fourth World Cup title.
