We have an identity because of others.

Consider a situation that you are completely alone in this world. Would your name, fame, status make any sense then. Who will call your name? Who will appreciate or condemn you? Who will be ahead or behind you?

Will you not lose your identity?

Even love & hate will lose their meaning. The fact is, when nobody is around, our identity is nothing but a figment of our imagination.
