QuarkChain Weekly AMA Summary-08/11/2018

in #ama6 years ago (edited)

As many of you already know, there is a weekly AMA (ask me anything) on Telegram/Wechat group every Saturday, from 7-8 PM PST. This is the summary for AMA of last week. We are always happy to take feedback and answer your questions.

Part 1: Marketing Questions

  1. Q: How was the event in Silicon Valley? What prospects will this presentation give to the project? What were the goals of the project, in Silicon Valley? Partnership, or something else?
A: It was very successful. You can check it at https://www.pscp.tv/w/1yNGaXPkeMRKj. Our goal was mainly to reach out to more engineers interested in blockchain technologies. The audiences were really into technical details and asked a lot of deep technical questions regarding QuarkChain. We delivered a brief introduction of QuarkChain, and then gave a demo of our project. Besides, our CEO, Qi Zhou was invited by two different engineering groups to deliver lectures of scalability for Silicon Valley engineers near the end this month or early next month.

  2. Q: Has QuarkChain thought about any specific strategy such as incentive programs to siphon Ethereum dApp developers, encouraging them to migrate to QuarkChain?
A: Firstly, we have already open sourced the client library recently which has been adopted by several teams in Blockchain Awakens Hackathon last week. The library provides similar interfaces as web3.js (the Ethereum client library) so that it is easy for the existing Ethereum dApp developers to start building Apps on QuarkChain. The library is pretty stable right now. Besides, there will also be other different incentives in terms of both technologies (scalability & usability) and promotions.

Part 2: Technical Questions

  1. Q: In terms of mining, will you need to hold the stakes or just mine through the software?
A: Since our current consensus is PoW, we only need to mine through the software. However, we also support collaborative mining. The root chain mining may need stakes, but miners are free to mine every shard. In addition, each shard may have different mining hash algorithms such as Ethash, SHA2, CryptoNight, and we may need our community members to determine the percentage later on.
