Harvey Wells TBS-50D

in #amateur6 years ago

In the left of this picture is a Harvey Wells TBS-50D Transmitter dated around the mid 40's . It uses an 807 final and 2 l's as modulators. This one has the Mic pre amp option. The pre amp has been re capped and all the bypass caps fattend up abit making the audio sound amazing for a small Transmitter.

In Pic. 2 you see a Heathkit VF-1 VFO this is plugged into the TBS-50D for frequency agility.
Running about 12 Watts on low tap into a Dentron Clipperton-L amp gives a very respectable 100+ watts carrier. Sounds just like or better than a Valiant.

Enjoy.

are you familiar with D & A amplifiers

Jessie I have herd of them. I think a lot of the D&A's wer CB 11Meter amps. Maybe some for 15 Meters. It has been a while, but kinda recall the name.

Isn't a D&A the district attorney?
